M27 and UN Symphony Orchestra bring the original contemporary Peruvian opera "El Condor Pasa -- Andean Hope" by Dante Valdez to the New York audiences. The libretto is based on the stories and legends of the indigenous peoples of the Andes. The music is infused with the ethnic melodies of the region, and the orchestra augmented by the several Andean instruments, such as zampoñas, quenas and charango.
After presenting the world premiere in 2019, the UN Symphony Orchestra is bringing a concert performance of this unique work in a fundraising event, to help the organisations that support the music education programme for the indigenous youth and children of the Parroquia Salasaka in Provincia de Tungurahua, Ecuador.
